Koonce (Left) (play-by-play)
Don
is a former all-state athlete at Hope Mills High School. He played
professional baseball for six seasons, the last four in AAA. For twelve
years he was a professional baseball scout in North and South Carolina
with the Major League Scouting Bureau.
He started his broadcasting career in 1990 as one of the founders
of Mid-South Sports as a sideline reporter and host of a pregame coaches
show. He founded DK Sports in 2002 where he does play-by-play for the
Game of the Week broadcast. He has called seven state football
championships games, including a rare doubleheader in 2008. This season
marks his 23rd year in broadcasting

Junior

A 1963 All-ACC and academic All-America selection, helped lead the
North Carolina Tar Heels to their first-ever bowl victory in 1963 - a 35-0 rout
of Air Force in the Gator Bowl. A three year football letterwinner in Chapel
Hill, Junior was drafted by the Green Bay Packers where he played professional
football for several years
